This was the question that inspired the founding of Guinness World Records back in 1955. Starting with a single book published from a room above a gym, the iconic Guinness World Records annuals have sold over 150 million copies in over 40 languages in more than 100 countries.
The Guinness Book of World Records, is a British reference book published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.
Sir Hugh Beaver created the concept in order to settle arguments debated in pubs, and twin brothers Norris and Ross McWhirter co-founded the book in London in late August 1955.
