"Oshima Pure Mihara Camellia Oil" is a natural camellia oil made from 100% Izu-Oshima yabu camellia nuts, produced by Takada Oil Refinery since the Taisho era. In order to produce the purest and finest camellia oil, the Takada Oil Refinery uses a very labor-intensive but classic traditional process. About 86% of camellia oil is made up of a fatty acid called oleic acid. Oleic acid is very similar to the fatty acid secreted by our healthy skin. The oleic acid and the non-drying nature of Oshima Pure Mihara Camellia Oil make it an ideal vegetable oil for use as a cosmetic oil, as it does not oxidize easily. In Japan, it has been used since the Heian period (794-1192) as an oil to protect women's black hair. It can also be used as a skin care oil.
