This is a very fine specimen of the Phacops Rana Africana Trilobite. It was found in Hamar Lagdad Limestone formation near Alnif, Morocco. The fossilized Trilobite, an extinct marine invertebrate, is approximately 3 inches in length and has some very fine details throughout.

The fossil is from the Middle Devonian, approximately 385 million years old. It was a rounded animal, with a globose head and large eyes, and probably fed on detritus. Phacops is often found rolled up, a biological defense mechanism that is widespread among smaller trilobites. The Trilobite specimen here is in its natural elongated state.
