Beautiful vintage Navajo earrings handcrafted by noted silversmith Fannie Chavez Platero. Each features a rich green oval malachite cabochon with natural banding, set in a scalloped sterling silver bezel and framed by hand-stamped radiating designs.
One earring is stamped PLATERO–FNE, believed to be an early hallmark format in which “FNE" abbreviates her first name, Fannie. The hallmark shows a slight double impression, a normal result of hand-stamping in artisan jewelry and part of its handmade character. The other earring is unmarked.
They measure approximately 1 1/2" long and 5/8" wide.
Total weight is 12.5 grams.
